Sarri suggests Bayern-linked Hudson-Odoi should be happy with playing time

Maurizio Sarri suggested young Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi should be content with his playing time this season amid reports Bayern Munich are attempting to lure him to the Bundesliga and offer more first-team opportunities.

The 18-year-old is highly rated at Chelsea and played a key role in England s Under-17 World Cup success in 2017.

His team-mate from that England side, Jadon Sancho, has been a revelation for Bayern s title rivals Borussia Dortmund this season, having left Manchester City in search of first-team football in 2017.

Hudson-Odoi has made six appearances for Chelsea in all competitions this term, but only one was in the Premier League – a 42-minute outing against Watford on Boxing Day, in which he suffered a hamstring injury.

Wolves 2 Cardiff City 0: Jota & Jimenez see off struggling Bluebirds

Diogo Jota and Raul Jimenez scored twice in the space of 134 first-half seconds as Wolves eased to a 2-0 home Premier League victory over Cardiff City.

Wolves win was a first in four top-flight games and tightened their grip on seventh place in the table.

The result was never in doubt after Jimenez scored his 11th league goal of the season in the 18th minute to double his side s advantage on Saturday.

Cardiff, who stay in the relegation zone, have now lost three consecutive matches, conceding 10 goals in the process.

John Ruddy, making a first top-flight appearance since May 2016 as Wolves gave him game-time ahead of the FA Cup quarter-final with Manchester United, had an early scare in gathering Aron Gunnarsson s effort at the second attempt after initia…

PSG to rescind Sergio Ramos contract?

Paris Saint-Germain are considering rescinding the contract of Sergio Ramos, according to reports in France.

However, he is yet to have his debut for the French club due to a series of injuries, mostly related to an ankle. PSG have anticipated his return to action on several occasions, only to be disappointed by setback after setback.

And according to Le Parisien (via ) , they are finally losing their patience and contemplating the possibility of parting ways with the 35-year-old former Spain captain, without his foot ever touching the turf at the Parc des Princes in a competitive game. They would, how…

Pele sends message to sorry France star Mbappe as Swiss celebrate

Pele told Kylian Mbappe to keep your head up after the France striker missed the shoot-out penalty that condemned Les Bleus to an early exit from Euro 2020.

As Switzerland celebrated a stunning win in Bucharest, prevailing on spot-kicks after a breathtaking 3-3 draw in the round of 16, Brazil great Pele had sympathy for misfiring Mbappe, who endured a miserable tournament.

Although Mbappe has established himself among the best strikers in the world with Paris Saint-Germain, he failed to find the back of the net in four games at these European finals.

The 22-year-old seemed fated to flounder from the spot once the game went to penalties, and that was how it proved, Mbappe stepping up with France trailing 5-4 and seeing his strike saved by Yann Sommer.

Emre on the move in January

Midfielder Emre Belozoglu expects to leave Fenerbahce in January, and wants to try his luck in one of Europe s top leagues before retiring.

The 31-year-old has spent the past three seasons in Istanbul after his transfer from English Premier League club Newcastle United in July 2008, but revealed he has become disillusioned with life in Turkey.

Emre had been dragged into the match-fixing scandal involving the club, while the national team s Euro 2012 playoff defeat to Croatia has further prompted his need for change.

The last period (failure in the playoffs) came on top of everything else, and it s wearing me down, Emre told Internetspor. I want to play in Europe one last time.

In addition, a report in Vatan on Tuesday has claimed that talks over a new …

FIFA threaten to ban Switzerland

FIFA have threatened to ban Switzerland from the sport if they fail to punish Sion for fielding ineligible players in the Europa League.

If the suspension came into force, Basel could be thrown out of the Champions League last 16, with Manchester United the likeliest club to replace Heiko Vogel s side in the competition after finishing in third place in Group C.

Sion were given a one-year transfer embargo in 2008 after FIFA ruled that they had broken transfer regulations when signing goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary of Al Ahly.

With a lengthy legal ban following, the suspension did not come into place until the winter window of the 2010-11 season and Sion breached the ban when they fielded ineligible players in their Europa League playoff victory over Celtic in August…

Champions League final is the game of my life – Torres

Fernando Torres says victory in the Champions League final against Real Madrid would see him achieve a lifelong dream.

Atletico face their city rivals in the final for the second time in three seasons, having lost 4-1 after extra time in Lisbon two years ago.

Torres was not involved on that occasion, as he was still at Chelsea, where he tasted glory in this competition with a penalty-shootout victory against Bayern Munich in 2012.

However, now back at his boyhood club after an eight-year absence, Torres is desperate to take the final step and complete a long-standing ambition.

It means everything, everything you dream of when you are a kid, he said at Friday s media conference ahead of the showdown at San Siro.

I have the chance to make this dre…

Podolski not going anywhere, says Solbakken

Cologne coach Stale Solbakken believes that Lukas Podolski will not be sold in the January transfer window.

The Germany international has been linked with a move away from the RheinEnergieStadion, with Arsenal touted as likely suitors, but Solbakken has moved to quash the speculation.

Lukas will stay at Koln to the end of the season I m sure of this, Solbakken told Kicker.

Podolski himself refuted claims that he could leave the club in order to boost his international prospects.

Koln is my first point of contact. The coach (Joachim Loew) has known me for five, six or seven years, Podolski said. He has always stood by me, he knows what I can do.

Podolski left Cologne in 2006 for Bayern Munich, but returned to the club in 2009. The 26-year-old s…

Petrov rules out return to football

Former Bulgaria and Aston Villa captain Stiliyan Petrov has ruled out a return to professional football, after the English club decided against handing the veteran a new contract.

In 2013, Petrov was forced to retire after contracting an acute form of leukaemia, and trained at his former club s camp in Austria this off-season, with the intent of a remarkable return.

It was not to be for Petrov, who was nevertheless offered an unspecified role with the Birmingham club.

There will be no comebacks. My return to professional football has failed but I will explain the reasons at a later stage, he told Kanal 3.

I am glad I was able to come back and do a pre-season, but sometimes things do not work out the way we want.
